Hey, I sold that.

February 11th, 2007

So I was watching Saw III today and while I was watching it I noticed something familiar that set off a thought in my head.

As you can see “Jigsaw” is holding a Sony HC46 Camcorder.

Now you are probably asking yourself “Ya sure whats the big deal?”. Well the big deal is that I sold that camcorder (with a Performance Service Plan) to the Saw III production company.

They came in and I helped them buy the camcorder and a colour laser printer I think it was the HP 2600n (again with a Performance Service Plan).

While I was ringing it in I jokingly said I hope Saw III is better than Saw II. They said that they would do the best they could to make it better because they wanted to make the fans happy since a bunch complained about the second one.

That is my short little post I have to go get ready for work. Tonight we are doing inventory and I am scheduled to be there from 6 PM until 3 AM which kinda sucks. That is what happens when you are a supervisor.

Why I don’t go to the movies.

February 10th, 2007

Ok it has been a while since I posted and a lot longer since I saw a movie in theaters but even though I don’t like to go to theaters that much any more because of the high prices for pretty much everything, and the sticky floors, and my newest foe that has been around for a while called CAP Codes. If you don’t know what cap codes are they look like this…

They are the little brown dots in the top of the picture. The difference though was that the dots I saw were a lot bigger and they were black instead of brown last night when I went to see Hannibal Rising with some friends

I understand that they want to stop piracy but tracking it to a theater might help a bit but it won’t stop it completely. I know they want to try something else as well which will be even more annoying if I can see it.The CAP codes were almost as annoying as the Boom Mic in night at the Museum. It had almost as many scenes as Ben Stiller.

Wasting time with DVDs

January 24th, 2007

Ok well I have been busy in Cellular this week with no customers so I decided to take some of my pay to buy some DVD’s and I just finished watching one….

Poolhall Junkies
So it was pretty good I did enjoy it. It is a lesser know Walken movie. It has some other pretty decent actors. It isn’t like the cast of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which surprisingly came out the same year. If you haven’t seen it and you get a chance to rent it pick it up I recommend it. it is kind like Rounders but with pool as the hustle instead of poker. If you haven’t seen Rounders either pick both up next time you are at a rental place.I’ll leave you with one screen cap from the movie.
P.S. Just a somewhat appropriate quote from the movie…When I was a kid, I figured out right away: most companies pay people enough, so as they don’t quit. People work hard enough, so as they don’t get fired. You know, what’s that?

See you Adam

January 19th, 2007

So it is January 19th, 2007 and what am I doing tonight? Going out with a bunch of co-workers to have one last party for my former supervisor. Hopefully it will be enjoyable.

The sad thing is that next week I start in cellular phones which hopefully will be better than today I was covering for someone and it felt so weird being in such a small department. It is going to take some getting used too.

So I am off to chat online for a bit.

Look who is in charge

January 15th, 2007

So This week I am acting supervisor in Digital Imaging since the current supervisor went back to school (Good luck with that Adam) so I have to do a whole whack of things this week before Thursday. I hope that the guys in the department don’t mind me being a.w.o.l for a bit while I do that stuff.

Some time soon I will be moving to a different department as supervisor. I am moving to the Cellular department which should be interesting it will allow me to learn about cellphone activations, and wonderful things like that.

So with that said I want to thank the staff at my Best Buy for all the support and kind words. All the comments at work and on the blog are appreciated. With that said I am off to go watch some television.

Dave

A fresh start?

January 1st, 2007

So it is a new year and what does that mean? Well… It means new opportunities, new chances to achieve goals, new jobs, new memories, etc.

So I hope this year is good to each and every one of you.

The New Blogger

December 23rd, 2006

Well I have switched over to the new blogger. I will explore when I get time. I will see if I find anything that is new that i like more or dislike.

P.S. Have a great Holiday Season

P.P.S. I forgot to mention when I left work last night we had a bunch of PS3’s in stock for sale. I guess the demand has dropped off really sharply. If you really need a PS3 go try the Best Buy stores in Toronto and you just might find one. If you want a Wii you are out of Luck.

Sales end Thursday night

December 1st, 2006

Ok so today was a long day with a bunch of disappointed people who didn’t get any Wii’s or PS3’s. So other than that it was business as usual at Best Buy and it was a new flyer which meant customers who came in and asked for things that were no longer on sale. The sad part is that everything is on sale but… the items they wanted were not as discounted as they were yesterday. These things happen what can you do? Other than that it was a regular Friday. I got a chance to see the new Nikon D40 but I didn’t get to play with it. I will once we put in on demo. I will still probably prefer the Rebel XTi.

The only downside to today was:

1. The Rain and the cold temperatures.
2. When I got home tired I accidentally locked the keys in my car.

So I had to call CAA to come and get my keys out which they did in 30 min kinda like a pizza place but for car problems. So the membership came in handy this year more than once. I think I got a tow earlier this year.

So that is about all I have for today I am off to watch last night episode of Scrubs and go to sleep early since I have work at 8 am tomorrow morning Woot.

TV from the past

November 26th, 2006

Just one quick post….

Does anyone remember this show? well if you clicked the link you know it was called The Mighty Hercules.

I remember watching The Mighty Hercules really early in the morning like before the Sun came up. I would also watch Rocket Robin Hood. I know these cartoons stopped being produced like 20 years before I was born but I still really liked them.

One other show I miss is Beakman’s World

Ya that was a little nostalgia, I could go on about other shows I miss but I might save that for another time.

Second launch day

November 24th, 2006

So today we had a second launch day for the Wii and the PS3 and it was even crazier then the first one. I think it was a combination of people realizing that Christmas is coming soon and that if they don’t wait in the line with the fanboys they won’t get one and they will probably have some disappointed children at home and the other cause was that we opened the store at regular time so we had regular early morning customers floating around the store buying regular stuff. So I was floating between selling the consoles and cameras and video cameras.

From what I hear this might be taking place every Friday till Christmas. I am not looking forward to this.

I am tired so I am out.

Dave

P.S. If anyone tells you that you don’t need a service plan and you listen to then. Go and complain to them when you have to pay to get your console fixed because it wasn’t a defect as opposed to getting the relatively cheap service plan and have it all done for you with no worries.

UPDATE: Today being Friday Dec. 3rd I am just letting people know that my Best Buy does not have any new consoles to sell. Oh well see if you can sign up for the flyer to find out when new units will be in.
